After the Trust Tairāwhiti Eastland Rescue Helicopter was called to Tokomaru Bay for a medical event, our on-board Critical Care Flight Paramedic assessed and treated the patient who was flown in a stable condition to Gisborne Hospital. The Trust Tairāwhiti Eastland Rescue Helicopter was dispatched in response to a motor vehicle accident in Tiniroto, where our on-board Critical Care Flight Paramedic assessed and treated the patient before they were flown in a stable condition to Gisborne Hospital. The Trust Tairāwhiti Eastland Rescue Helicopter brought an extra pilot on so the team had four pairs of eyes – instead of the usual three – for a search off the coast of Gisborne on Monday. Just after 3am on Monday morning Maritime NZ’s Rescue Co-Ordination Centre (RCCNZ) received reports that multiple flare sightings had been spotted from Tatapouri. As a result, Gisborne Police and local Coastguard were notified and the Rescue Helicopter crew joined the search at 7am, when visibility improved. Nothing was found after an initial search but the Trust Tairāwhiti Eastland Rescue Helicopter was recalled at 10.30am and spent another hour searching the area about eight nautical miles off Makorori Beach, and along the coast towards Whangara. The job was closed by RCCNZ on Monday evening.
The Trust Tairāwhiti Eastland Rescue Helicopter responded to a Motor Vehicle Accident at Tolaga Bay, where our on-board Critical Care Flight Paramedic assessed and treated the patient who was flown in a serious condition to Gisborne Hospital. Bystanders, volunteers Fire and Police staff helped extricate the patient from scene, and Gisborne St John crews raced up the coast to help with patient care.
The Trust Tairāwhiti Eastland Rescue Helicopter was called to a medical event at Te Whare Hauora o Ngati Porou/Te Puia Springs Hospital, where our on-board Critical Care Flight Paramedic assessed and treated the patient before they were flown in a stable condition to Gisborne Hospital. Ruatoria ambulance crew and Te Puia Springs Hospital were on-scene to help with the patient.
For the first of two motor vehicle accidents the Trust Tairāwhiti Eastland Rescue Helicopter responded to at the weekend, the team were called to Nuhaka where our on-board Critical Care Flight Paramedic stabilised the patient who was flown in a serious condition to Gisborne Hospital. Two Wairoa ambulance crews offered on-scene support, while local fire crews helped with scene management and loading the patient.
With our patient left in a serious condition by a medical event, the St John’s team brought them from Gisborne Hospital to our Gisborne Airport base, where they were assessed and treated by our on-board Critical Care Flight Paramedic. The Trust Tairāwhiti Eastland Rescue Helicopter team then flew the patient in a serious condition from Gisborne base to Tauranga base, from where the Hamilton crew took them to Waikato Hospital.
