A week that started with transfer flights and ended with high winds made for a light schedule for the Trust Tairāwhiti Eastland Rescue Helicopter for the seven days from Monday, August 12. The team successfully completed three missions in that period, starting with Tuesday’s 2am response to a medical event at Te Kaha, from where they flew their patient in stable condition to Whakatane Hospital. At 6.40am that same day they returned to the East Coast, to a medical event at Tikitiki, flying their patient in serious condition to Gisborne Hospital. And at 3pm on Friday the Eastland Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to a trauma at Nūhaka (pictured), flying the patient in stable condition to Hawke’s Bay Fallen Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, in Hastings.
