The Trust Tairāwhiti Helicopter Rescue team were dispatched to Awetere to a whānau gathering. An elderly lady needed medical assistance. Our crew arrived on scene and assessed the patient. She was then flown to Te Whatu Ora Tairāwhiti Gisborne Hospital for further treatment.

Our team were tasked to Te Araroa where a man was involved in a horse riding accident. St John’s medics assisted our critical care paramedic treating the patient. The patient was flown to Te Whatu Ora Tairawhiti Gisborne Hospital to receive further treatment.
November 28, 2022, 09:00
The Trust Tairāwhiti Eastland Helicopter Rescue team were tasked to Rakaroa. The task was for a male with injuries who required roadside extrication. The male was treated by St John’s medics who were on scene. The male was transported to Waikato Hospital for further treatment.
November 24, 2022, 19:00
Our team were tasked to a station in Wairoa. A young man was injured was injured whilst handling a horse and required extrication to hospital. He was initially treated on scene by the Wairoa Ambulance crew before our team arrived and the decision was made to fly him to Hasting’s hospital for further treatment.

The Trust Tairāwhiti Eastland Helicopter Rescue team were tasked by Rescue Coordination Centre to a person location beacon search on Mahia Peninsula. On the way we were stood down as an accidental activation. We returned to base.

The Trust Tairawhiti Eastland Helicopter Rescue team were tasked by Rescue Coordination Centre to search the Waimata Valley area for a locator beacon associated with an aircraft mayday call. We located an aircraft and pilot that had performed a forced landing. The pilot was uninjured, and we returned to base.

Our team were called to a car accident in Mohaka where a 31 year old female was injured. St John ambulance and Fire Emergency New Zealand from Wairoa were on scene. Our critical care flight paramedic worked with them to help extricate the patient who was in a critical condition. Another helicopter from our sister base in Taupo was called to help assist due to how critical the patient was. The patient was then flown in a stable but critical condition to Hawke’s Bay hospital by the Taupo Rescue Helicopter crew. We would like to thank St John and FENZ for their help with a difficult situation and showed great professionalism and teamwork. We would like to thank the two doctors from Wairoa and Hawke’s Bay for their help on the way into work.
Sunday 30 October, 3.15pm
The Trust Tairawhiti Eastland Helicopter Rescue team were tasked to Hicks Bay. Our team landed at the school for a young girl who had taken a fall off a horse. On the scene when our team arrived were the Ruatoria St Johns team and the Hicks Bay First Responders. Our onboard critical care paramedic assessed the young girl, and she was flown to Te Whatu Ora Tairawhiti Gisborne Hospital for further treatment.
