Nga mihi Nuhaka Fire and Wairoa St John services for establishing a safe landing zone at the school, and taking our paramedic to the scene.

Called to Mahia for a medical event, the Trust Tairāwhiti Eastland Rescue Helicopter on-board critical care flight paramedic stabilised the patient, who was flown in a serious condition to Hastings Hospital. Thanks to Wairoa St John’s and Mahia first response crews who met us at the helipad.

Poor visibility as a result of persistent bad weather led to a quiet week for the Trust Tairāwhiti Eastland Rescue Helicopter. However, the team did get to Ruatoria on Saturday in response to a medical event. Already on the scene were Ruatoria Fire Service and St John, which handed care over to the on-board critical care flight paramedic. Once assessed and treated, the patient was flown in a stable condition to Gisborne Hospital.

The Trust Tairāwhiti Eastland Rescue Helicopter had more than the usual number on board after a call to Hicks Bay for a Motor Vehicle Accident. All three patients were taken by NZ Police to the helicopter landing zone, where our on-board Critical Care Flight Paramedic assessed and treated them before they were flown in stable conditions to Gisborne Hospital.
