Man trapped by quad bike

The ECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Makorori Station on December 18 to uplift a 62-year-old male who had been trapped by a quad bike for some time. He was flown to Gisborne Hospital for treatment.

 

Woman breaks leg in tramping accident

The ECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Hokoroa Road inland from Tolaga Bay on December 7. A 48-year-old female had been tramping in the area and had fallen and badly broken her leg. She was recovered with the use of the 100ft longline and was lifted to the nearest clear area. It was apparently her first ride under and in a helicopter. She is progressing well in GIsborne Hospital.

 

Tolaga Bay medical emergency

The ECT Rescue Helicopter responded to Tolaga Bay Medical Centre on November 26 to airlift a 67-year-old male patient suffering from a medical condition to Gisborne Hospital.

 

Helicopter dispatched to Wairoa on water rescue mission

The ECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched on November 4 to Wairoa to search for two missing swimmers off the coast. It responded with a St John trained water rescue swimmer and intensive care paramedic. After a short time, the team located and recovered a seven-year-old male from the water. The male was deceased on reaching the beach. The search was continued with the aid of a fixed wing aircraft and the Hastings-based Lowe Corp Rescue Helicopter.

 

Mahia medical call-out

The ECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Mahia on October 27 where an 85-year-old male had suffered a serious medical condition. He was flown to Gisborne Hospital for treatment.

 

Medical emergency in Whatatutu

The ECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Whatatutu on October 26 where a 67-year-old female had suffered a serious medical condition. She was flown to Gisborne Hospital for treatment.

 

Helicopter called to motorbike accident in Ruatoria

The ECT rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Ruatoria on October 25 where a 42-year-old male sustained head and shoulder injuries after falling from his motorbike on a gravel road. He was flown to Gisborne Hospital for treatment.

 

The ECT Rescue Helicopter crew locates missing man

The ECT Rescue Helicopter was tasked by the Gisborne Police on October 22 to search for a man in his fifties who had failed to return from a walk near Te Araroa. He was located in a river bed by the helicopter crew. The man was cold and tired but otherwise in good spirits after spending a night in the bush.

 

Helicopter called to Te Puia

The ECT Rescue Helicopter went to Te Puia Springs on October 21 to uplift a six-year-old girl with a medical condition. She was flown to Gisborne Hospital for treatment.

 

Horse accident in Ruatoria

The ECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Ruatoria on Saturday October 19 to uplift a 13-year-old girl who had taken a tumble from a horse. She was flown to Gisborne Hospital for treatment.

 

Ute rollover in Tolaga Bay

The ECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Tolaga Bay on October 16, where a 36-year-old male driver of a ute rolled into a drainage ditch. He sustained shoulder, chest and leg injuries and was transported to Gisborne Hospital for further treatment. 

 

Man injured in accident on rural property

The ECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Mahia on October 13 to uplift a 67-year-old male who had rolled his fertilizer spreading truck on a rural property. He was flown to Gisborne Hospital with multiple injuries.

 

Bike and 4WD crash north of Ruatoria

The ECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to 30 kilometres north of Ruatoria on October 12 to attend a bike and 4WD crash. The rider of the bike sustained multiple injuries and was flown to Gisborne Hospital for further treatment.

 

Horse incident at Whatatutu

The ECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched on October 7 to Whatatutu to uplift a 22-year-old female with a suspected fracture following a horse riding incident. She was stabilised by St John paramedics then flown to Gisborne Hospital for treatment.

 

Helicopter called to farm accident

The ECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Te Araroa on October 5 to assist a 74-year-old male who had fallen while working on his farm. He was flown to Gisborne Hospital for treatment.

 

Dual rescue for ECT Rescue Helicopter

The ECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Ruatoria on October 3 to uplift a 16-year-old male hurt in a rugby game. In flight it was diverted to attend a truck rollover south of Tolaga Bay. The driver, a 53-year-old male, was airlifted to Gisborne Hospital for treatment. The ECT Rescue Helicopter then returned north to pick up the injured rugby player. 

 

Helicopter called to another medical emergency

The ECT Rescue Helicopter went to Te Puia Hospital on October 1 to uplift a 24-year-old male with a medical condition. He was transported to Gisborne Hospital for further treatment.

 

Mahia rescue

The ECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Mahia on September 16 to uplift a 66-year-old male with a medical condition. He was transported to Hastings Hospital for further treatment.

 

Te Puia medical call-outs

The ECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched on September 1 to Te Puia Medical Centre to uplift two patients suffering medical conditions. One 67-year-old female and one 54-year-old were flown to Gisborne Hospital for further treatment.

 

Injured woman transferred to Gisborne Hospital

The ECT Rescue Helicopter went to Te Puia Medical Centre on August 28 to uplift and transfer an 18-year-old female with a back injury to Gisborne Hospital.

 

Rescue Helicopter called to medical emergency

The ECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Te Araroa Medical Centre on August 21 to uplift a 63-year-old female with a medical condition. She was transported to Gisborne Hospital for further treatment.

 

Te Puia call-out

The ECT Rescue Helicopter went to Te Puia Medical Centre on August 20 to uplift a 35-year-old male with a medical condition. He was transported to Gisborne Hospital for further treatment.

 

Wairoa Rescue

The ECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Wairoa on August 19 at 9am to uplift a 30-year-old female with a medical condition. She was transported to Hastings Hospital for further treatment.

 

Rugby injury at Te Araroa

The ECT Rescue Helicopter went to the Te Araroa rugby field on August 17 to assist a 29-year-old male with an injury sustained while playing rugby. He was stabilised and transported to Gisborne Hospital for treatment.

 

Logging truck accident south of Te Puia

The ECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched on August 15 to Te Puia Medical Centre to uplift a 32-year-old male who had sustained injuries as aresult of a logging truck accident south of Te Puia Springs.The ECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched on September 1st, 2013 to Te Puia Medical Center to uplift two patients suffering medical conditions. One 67-year-old female and one 54-year-old were flown to Gisborne hospital for further treatment.

 

Search and rescue mission

The ECT Rescue Helicopter was tasked by the Gisborne Police to assist in the search for a missing hunter south of Matawai on August 12. Members of the police search and rescue team were flown into the area and a short search followed. The male hunter was located and the search completed.

 

Te Puia medical emergencies 

The ECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Te Puia Medical Centre on August 7 to airlift a female patient suffering from a medical condition. She was flown to Gisborne Hospital for further treatment.

The ECT Rescue Helicopter was also dispatched to Te Puia Medical Centre August 8, to transport a 40-year-old female to Gisborne Hospital with a medical condition.

 

Vehicle Accident in the Waioeka Gorge  

The ECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to the Waioeka Gorge on July 25 to attend a vehicle rollover. A 4WD had lost control and rolled on the main road. The car had four occupants of which one was deceased. The ECT Helicopter transported a three-year-old female with suspected head and chest injuries along with her mother suffering contusions.

 

Fractured leg after fall

The ECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Ruatoria on July 25 to transport a 45-year-old male with a suspected fractured leg after falling from a fence. He was flown to Gisborne Hospital for further treatment.

 

Injuries sustained after fall from horse 

The ECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Ruatoria on July 22 where a 12-year-old male had fallen from a horse and sustained two broken arms. He was transported to Gisborne Hospital for further treatment.

 

Quad bike accident on remote farm

The ECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Anaura Bay on July 22 where a 36-year-old male sustained chest injuries hunting on his farm. His quad bike rolled downhill, over the top of him. He was transported to Gisborne Hospital for further treatment.

 

 Quad bike accident south of Tolaga Bay

The ECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to assist St John ambulance on July 20 with a 43-year-old woman who, along with two others, was injured in a quad bike accident just south of Tolaga Bay. Injuries were minor to moderate. Local fire volunteers also attended and the woman was flown to Gisborne Hospital.

 

Car accident involving cow at Tolaga Bay

The ECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Tolaga Bay on July 6 to uplift a 21-year-old woman that was involved in a car accident involving a cow. She was flown to Gisborne Hospital for treatment.

 

Rescue helicopter called to Mahia

The ECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched on July 4 to transport an 86-year-old female after a fall at Mahia. She was flown to Gisborne Hospital for further treatment.

 

Drift cart accident near Ormond

The ECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched on June 29 to assist St John paramedics with a 24-year-old male who had crashed a drift cart in the Ngakoroa area near Ormond. It is understood the man left the road and came to rest about 30 metres down a bank. He was lifted up the bank by the Fire Service, loaded into the helicopter and flown to Gisborne Hospital with suspected fractures.

 

Girl suffers rugby injury

The ECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to assist with a 13-year-old girl on June 15 who had been injured while playing rugby. The girl was flown from the Tikitiki rugby field to Gisborne Hospital for further assessment.

 

Rescue at Hicks Bay

The ECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to uplift an elderly male from Hicks Bay on June 9 who was suffering from a medical condition. He was transported to Gisborne Hospital for further treatment.
